Adult Congenital Heart Center Expands to Brooklyn

April 26, 2019

The Schneeweis Adult Congenital Heart Center opens a satellite location in Brooklyn, New York, in 2019.  The new office, located in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, expands the center's services into an area where patients with adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) were not previously able to find care locally.

“There were no adult congenital heart disease cardiologists in Brooklyn," said Marlon Rosenbaum, MD, director of the center. "This is an opportunity for patients to receive state-of-the-art care by a Columbia University ACHD specialist without having to travel to upper Manhattan.”

The new location offers access to the same physicians, imaging support staff, and sonographers who provide care at the main location in upper Manhattan.

Dr. Rosenbaum, a pioneer in the field of adult congenital heart disease, has led the Schneeweis Adult Congenital Heart Center since 1987.  Under his leadership the center has expanded to include locations in Connecticut, Westchester, and Long Island.

The American Heart Association estimated that there were 1.4 million adults with congenital heart disease living in the US in 2010, a 63 percent increase since the year 2000.

The office is located at 9000 Shore Road, Brooklyn, NY.  Appointments can be made by calling 212-305-6936.
